I'm looking into starting a chicken coop. I have a bazillion books on my "to-read" list, but I want to add some on raising organic chickens. We eat about a dozen eggs every two or three days, which translates to almost 3 dozen eggs a week. If we had children, I imagine that number would increase. So instead of buying dozens of eggs all the time, why not just start a little hen house in the back? It's a win-win situation: the lawn will be organically fertilized and maintained, and the chickens will be eating a nutrient-rich diet that I can monitor.
Maybe I should work on the job first. Then the house. Then the kids. Then the chickens.
I'm interested in goats too...
